Date Night 101: Stay-at-home Date Night Ideas
Despite what the internet would have you believe, the best part of a relationship are those “un-instagrammable” moments— chilling at home (sweatpants, head tied chilling with no makeup on), bonding over doing laundry and eating way too old takeout together. Having a night out on the town is nice (and very necessary at times), but it isn’t everything. After all, you got to make sure that outside all of the wining and dining you two actually like each other, right? If you are looking for a few low-key, stay at home date night ideas that won’t break the bank, keep reading— here’s three of them!
- Chef it up
It doesn’t matter if you two aren’t Gordon Ramsey and Rachel Ray, this date is less about the result and more about the process. Cooking together is surprisingly intimate and can be a whole lot of fun too! Choose something super complicated (like parmesean risotto with roasted shrimp) that you two have to figure out together, then have fun with it, add garnishes and decorate your plate (maybe even throw on a chef’s hat and apron if you own ‘em). And worse case, if it doesn’t work out (hopefully your kitchen is still standing) — you can always order takeout as a back-up plan!
- Games night for two
Pick your poison with this one guys! Maybe you and your guy are gamers so the perfect date night involves NBA 2k and pizza or maybe you’re a bit more old school and scrabble and a glass of wine is more your speed. Either way, the important thing is to choose a game that both of you will enjoy (don’t force yourself to suffer through a night of videogames if you can’t stand them ladies, love is about compromise not sacrifice!).
- Backyard (or Indoor) Picnicking
An indoor picnic takes all the best things about a picnic (the wine, the cheese and the cuddles) and leaves out all the annoying bits like the ants and the nature in your food. And just because it isn’t an outdoor picnic in the park it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go all out! Especially if it’s winter time (and therefore definitely not picnic weather), this could can be a really sweet idea— pull out the picnic basket, the checkered blanket, and a few of your favorite foods and let the picnic work its magic!
Stay at home date night ideas doesn’t have to mean bland and boring dates. Spice it up, get creative and enjoy each other.
