Fall is here which means it’s officially time to start dressing, dressing! Of course, those of us in warmer climates might sometimes feel like we’re missing out on the killer layered looks that come with those cool fall temperatures. But don’t worry girl, there are still ways for you to look cool weather ready, even when the temperatures aren’t there (and without overheating!). Check out these layering tips that are sure to have you looking fabulously fall.
- Invest in a Lightweight blazer
You might be tempted to purchase a trench or a tweed coat to really get your fall on but chances are, especially in early fall, they will keep you super hot. A lightweight blazer is a smarter, cheaper alternative which means you can but more than one in different colors and prints! And the awesome thing about blazers is that you can dress them up (like with a cocktail dress and heels) or make them more casual (think graphic tee and skinny jeans!) for an everyday look.
- Rock Fall Colors in Summer Fabrics
This seems kind of obvious but you can actually look like fall with having to feel like fall. Rich, warm tones and hues like olive, maroon and camel are signature fall colors, and are sure to be available in lighter, more warm weather-friendly fabrics. This goes for fall prints as well such as plaid and houndstooth . You get to look the part, while still feeling comfy!
- Ankle Booties + Tights
Tights and fishnets give the appearance of layers, but actually don’t have to keep you too warm. Just make sure that you are purchasing thinner tights and not winter tights because those will definitely have you overheating! You can pair fishnets or tights with shorts, dresses or even oversized (lightweight) sweaters! Ankle booties are also kind of the warm weather alternative to boots— while over-the-knees might not be your smartest move, booties are chic and appropriate.
