Vacation where you live: How to plan an end of summer staycation
Summer is coming quickly to a close which means that the perfect vacation weather is will be gone soon. However, if your bank account looks more like a trip around the block than a trip abroad, you might be thinking that a vacation is out of your reach. However, vacations don’t always have to be expensive or even involve a plane ride! An end of summer staycation is the perfect vacation alternative at a fraction of the cost! If you don’t know where to start with your staycation, don’t worry! We got a few tips and tricks up our sleeves for you— just keep reading!
- AirBnB it!
Sure you are going to be staying in your city, but if you can afford it, think about renting an AirBnB in a different part of town to really give yourself that “vacation” feel. Of course, staying in your own spot is perfectly fine as well but you can find some really amazing and affordable accommodation if you look, so give it a shot! - Eat well
One of the best things about a vacation is the food. It is practically a requirement to eat delicious foods while on vacation so why should your staycation be any different? Take a look around for some hot new brunch spots, cute little cafes and maybe even a fancy restaurant or two, if you like! You know what they say— good food, good mood! - Buy Souvenirs
No vacation is complete without a few souvenirs! And this time you don’t have to resort to any overpriced gift shops! Treat yourself to something nice (and in budget)— it could be something small like a new coffee mug, or splurge on a new pair of shoes, just make sure it’s something you really want (no “wish you were here” t-shirts, please!) - Commit to it!
No checking emails, no working from home, ladies! Committing to your staycation means actually acting like you’re on vacation (because you are, duh). Become a tourist in your own town, sleep in way too late and have breakfast at noon. Spend a day at the spa and ignore your phone all day. Take the time to relax and recuperate the right way!
